Production Push 5. September 2006

Had a fun time chatting with the two dozen or so well-wishers who pinged me today after the formal announcement of Approver.com. The experience of launching products always energizes me, so I put my energy to good use knocking out a new push tonight. This includes what we in the industry like to refer to as a “non-user-facing feature,” which was an embarassing bit of formatting cruft, details of which are too embarassing to mention, but suffice it to say that it had polluted nearly every page on the site and offended a certain purist who complained bitterly. This purist is correct, of course, but the watchword for milestones 1 and 2 were “get it working well, but don’t worry about getting it perfect,” and since this was such a trivial little thing, I blew it off until I got the bitter complaint this morning, and then I fixed it, so it’s fixed now. Phew.

The more meaningful addition tonight was the Approver.com Guided Tour, something that had been on the roadmap for a while but didn’t get prioritized until Anil IMed me today and said, in essence OMG U MST HAVE SCREEN SHOTS and I said, okay, that shouldn’t be too hard. Five hours later, whammo, you’ve got a full guided tour. Enjoy!
