This is the first post of the WordPress.com blog for Approver.com. Nothing much going on here yet…but soon there will be a flurry of activity the likes of which the world has never seen.
Status Update
May 6, 2006Here's an update on where development is at. Actually, before I start, I should probably back up here and describe how I'm project-managing myself.
I've broken up the 50-60 tasks that need to get done to get Approver to do what I want it to do. I've plugged these tasks into Microsoft Project because I am a masochist. I've grouped the tasks into four milestones, M1 through M4. I'm working on M1 now and should get it done by the first week in June. I'm actually a tiny bit ahead of that schedule, but having slack is good because it gives one time to take care of unexpected difficulties.
M1 is intended to be basic and not completely polished, not necessarily "the smallest thing that could possibly work" but close to it. It will contain:
- User registration and login
- Ability to create and edit plain text documents in the browser
- Ability to invite reviewers and approvers
- An email alerting service that notifies reviewers when they have a new document to look at
- A flow that enables approvers to approve (or reject) a document
- The ability for authors or reviewers to comment on a document
Of these, only the last two remain to be completed for Milestone 1.
